The Students of Year 3 from the Department of Media and Communication (DMC) of the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) have produced a one-hour-video documentary series on Khmer tradition and youth culture in a rapidly changing social environment. The students wrote, shot and edited their first movies as final part of their broadcast journalism- and video production course in 2012. The documentaries present a variety of challenges and conflicts within a constantly changing cultural society. For the first time in DMC’s production history, the producers faced the challenge of avoiding narrative elements (e.g. voice over explanations) to insure the most balanced view point without injecting their opinion into the stories. While some of their video documentaries focus on the dialogue between young and old generations, others open up on new Cambodian trends in sports, art, media, politics and — the topic closest to heart — love. The students of DMC’s Batch 09 proudly present their first professional video productions and hope you will enjoy watching their one-hour-documentary series: No Comment Cambodia!
